Open on Sundays!

That's right! Many people have been asking if we would consider being open on Sundays. How could we possibly turn down the chance to spend a cozy Sunday afternoon knitting? So we are now open Sundays from 12pm to 4pm. It is a great chance to pick up a new project, a gift, or come and knit with us!

There was a great surprise waiting for me at the post office this morning - the winter edition of Interweave Knits Magazine! The projects are fabulous - but we only have 5 copies, so make sure to stop by soon.

I know I have been lax in blogging lately. Obviously I am spending too much time knitting (is that even possible?). Becka and I have been trying to decide what to do with Katia's Gatsby yarn. it is a fingering weight yarn with a gold thread running through it. We absolutely love the yarn and knew it would be a great carry along, but I wanted to see how it would stand alone. I tried it out on the Opera scarf pattern and check out the results:

Isn't this the perfect holiday scarf? Or just the right accessory when you want to spice up any outfit. It would go with that little black dress, or your favorite pair of jeans.
I also just finished the Annie scarf from the Queensland Collection. This has to be one of my favorite pattern books right now. It has everything - sweaters, scarves, wraps, gloves, socks, and more. But this scarf - which could be used as a wrap - is my favorite.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful...

... but the knitting is delightful!! Isn't this just the perfect day to curl up with your favorite knitting project? To be honest, I am spending the morning paying bills, but I WANT to be knitting. I braved the weather to open the shop for those hearty souls who dare to venture out for their knitting supplies. Since most people are heeding the weatherman's advice to stay home, I am getting some much needed paperwork done. I am also waiting for UPS and FedEx to deliver some yarn we have all been waiting for and once they come I will probably head home. I don't want to be out once the sleet starts.

The mohair/wool from Friends Folly Farm has arrived!! Everyone has been drooling over the colors and fiber. The olive/blue combination seems to be the most popular so I have called in an extra order of that as well as a pink/beige mix that Becka and I just loved. One of our knit at night regulars snatched up the hat kit with the pink and we were so sad to see it go that I had to order more.

I've been busy working on an alpaca ear flap hat for Peter. Poor guy has been getting cold ears watching the kids on the playground at school. The pattern was from the latest edition of Interweave Knits. The hat came out perfectly - but too small for Peter. Connor is now proudly wearing it. And yes, I did do a gauge swatch! I actually did five of them. Since I was substituting Blue Sky 100% alpaca for the yarn used in the pattern, it took me awhile to get the gauge right. Then when I was actually knitting it, I was worried to my knitting had gotten too loose lately so I made it extra tight - thus the hat became extra small! Oh well, Connor has a fabulous new hat and Peter will get another one. I've decided to design my own with a snowflake motif for him. Bec and I spent hours working out the graph for the snowflake. If it comes out well, I'll post a picture.

Ok - back to the paperwork. Happy snow day everyone!

Holiday sale!!

Hello everyone,

I hope that this holiday season finds you happy, healthy, and knitting! We have seen many of you over the past few weeks picking up supplies to create wonderful gifts for friends and family. In that spirit, we have decided to create a special holiday sale as our gift to you.

On this Friday, December 23, ALL in-stock yarns, books, patterns, needles, bags, and needle cases will be 10% off ALL DAY. Since we know that schedules are tight, we will be opening at 9am and staying open until 7pm to give you extra time to take advantage of the sale. This sale is not being advertised beyond our newsletter and the website, so spread the word to all your knitting friends!

We will be closed on Saturday, December 24 and Sunday, December 25 to enjoy the holiday with our family.

Have a wonderful holiday season and stay tuned for announcements of new yarn arrivals. I am told that more Malabrigo should be here any day, Friendz Blend is now here and new colors have been ordered, and we just ordered a fantastic new fleece yarn!

Happy Knitting!

Chesley
