9 days to go

Well, yesterday was an interesting day! I learned an important lesson – taking a 2 ½ year old to work is not necessarily a good idea. Alec came down with a cold so we decided to keep him home from daycare and he and Connor joined Mommy at the shop for the morning. Somehow the cold didn’t affect his energy level and he proceeded to dump apple juice all over Peter’s laptop – to the point where juice was running out the side when I tried to clean it up. Not good. While I’m busy with the laptop, Alec runs over to the sink and starts shaking the newly installed plumbing, and manages to spring a leak. Luckily, he had just loosened a bolt or something and Peter managed to fix that one. Finally, Alec finished off the morning by pulling all the newly stocked Debbie Bliss cashmerino off the shelves. Needless to say, we both needed a good nap!

I finished the Blue Sky Alpaca Opera scarf (a free pattern available on their website and at our shop) and it looks great. The pattern calls for size 8 US needles, but I had to use US 9 to get the correct gauge. Right now, I am working on a scarf of my own design in Classic Elite’s Posh – a cashmere silk blend that is a treat to knit with. It is so soft, it just glides through your fingers. I’m going to have a hard time using this scarf as a shop model and not wearing it!
